Summary thus far: Goku failed in defeating Cell in his time, and as he lay dieing, was appoarched by a mysterious woman who transports him to the Sailor Moon Universe, where he then meets Usagi (who has a crush on him), Rei, and Ami (who also have slight crushes on him). Now Goku must help the girls defeat the Dark Kingdom to prevent the same thing from happening to their world that happened to his.

::Chapter Six::

"Oh Man! I'm gonna be SO late!" Goku shook his head as he ran along the sidewalk. He'd have preferred to fly, and flying would have been MUCH faster, but until he got out of the city limits, he'd have to settle for running. It was 1:00 that saturday morning, nearly two weeks after Jadeites death. And even though Rei and Ami were still a little sore in some places, he'd decided that it was time to start training the girls. He'd found a nice solitary area in the country where hopefully no one would find them.

And he was late.

He shook his head, speeding up. He was starting to become like Usagi, oversleeping like this....

Usagi.

She still wouldn't speak to him, even though he'd tried to tell her it had only been an accident. And now on top of THAT, he had this 'Earth King' PLUS the Dark Kingdom to worry about. Trying to put the events out of his mind, he sped up and rounded the next corner; only to have someone plow into him. The force of the impact knocked the person flat on the ground, while he was left standing, unharmed.

He rushed over, a sheepish look on his face.

"Hey! What's the big idea!!" It was a girl, and she didn't look too happy. Goku knelt down beside her.

"Gosh," he started, "Are you ok? I guess I should pay more attention to where I'm going before you run into me..." he paused, trying to figure out if that had come out correctly. It didn't sound correct...

"ME run into YOU?!" It was then that the girl looked up.... and blushed. She had long wavy auburn-brown hair, tied up in a pony tail atop her head. Her forest green eyes went wide as she stared up at him. Wow....he looks just like my old boyfriend.....

"Huh?"

Her blush deepened.

"Eh....sorry..."

Goku grinned cluelessly and held out a hand to help her up.

"By the way," the girl said in a rush, "My name's Makoto!"

Goku looked surprised. "Hi Makoto," he replied staring down at her.

This guy's totally built! She thought giddily to herself. Plus he was super tall...not like most guys, who were usually half a foot shorter than she. With this guy however, she barely reached his shoulders. He's perfect!!!!! I think I'm in love......Maybe he'll take me out for a milkshake...

"Well, g'bye!"

Makoto dreamily snapped out of her revere. "Gahh! W-wait!!! Where're ya off to??!" She cried hastily, grabbing his arm. He turned puzzled eyes to her.

"I have to meet some friends, and they get reeaally mad if I'm late." He laughed, not seeming too upset at all.

"Well....maybe we could meet up somewhere? Like....here? Tomorrow? I-If your not doing anything that is..." Goku shrugged. It wasn't as if he had anything planned.

"Sure!" he said in his over enthusiastic way. Makoto laughed. He was so cute.

"Thanx! I'm new in town, so I don't know that many people...." Makoto began slowly. Her reputation as the Karate Maniac followed her everywhere. She sighed. Obviously this guy hadn't heard anything yet. That was great! He'd come to know her, and then when he did hear, he'd know that those things weren't true. "I start school monday, so this'll be a great start for me," she continued. Goku grinned again, not really getting what she was talking about, but happy for her anyway.

"Oh! I'd better be going," he reasoned. Rei could get awfully worked up about things like being on-time. The girl looked disappointed, and seeing this, Goku grinned encouragingly.

"Cheer up! I've never been the new kid before...but I'm sure it can't be that bad, right?" With that, he turned and sped away, totally oblivious to the love stricken girl behind him. It was only after he'd left, that Makoto realized he had never given her his name.

Ten minutes later he arrived, along with a winded, redfaced Usagi, who'd also been late.

She'd also been the only one to arrive in a sundress.

It was a pretty sundress, pale yellow, with little pink roses dotted over it. She wore white sandles, and little white bows graced the two odango on her head. A perfectly suitable dress.....if they hadn't been planning to train, that is. Rei, as usual, blew up.

"Baka Odango! What do you think this IS?! A PICNIC?! We're here to prepare for the ENEMY, not to make a FASHION STATEMENT!!" Yet she herself had worn a stylish violet and gray gym suit, with her beautiful hair in a long thick braid that fell down her back. Usagi eyed her suspiciously. Ami, who'd been quietly reading a book, looked up at the new arrivals. She wore a simple white t-shirt and a pair of blue jogging shorts. Her hair was the same, except that she wore a sweat band around her forehead. Around her neck, she wore a waterproof stopwatch. She smiled, greeting her friends.

Goku and Luna were the only ones who noticed however, for Rei and Usagi were engaged in a fierce tongue war. Goku shook his head, deciding to run interferance. "Usagi. Thats a really pretty dress," he complimented in his usual innocent way. Usagi beamed, totally forgetting that she was supposed to be angry with him. Rei frowned, but Goku went on. "But...don't you think it's a little wrong for fighting in?" Rei snickered and Usagi pouted.

"I told her that," Luna revealed exasperatedly. "But she'd just bought it and she wanted to show it off." Usagi shot Luna a hurt look.

"Baka Usagi-chan....," Rei mumbled.

Suddenly Usagi brightened and Luna shook her head. "Usagi-chan, don't you DARE!"

But it was too late, for the girl already had the disguise pen out and in her hands. She held it up to the sky. "Disguise power! Turn me into a....um....a majorly cool karate student!" When the lights cleared, Usagi stood, the sundress only a memory. Now, she was dressed in a light pink Karate gi, much like the one Goku wore, except that her's had a picture of a bunny in place of the character that showed who'd trained her, (had she been trained). Her yellow streams were tied up conveniantly into her buns of hair, so that they didn't hang down and wouldn't get in the way. She gave the victory sign.

Luna frowned. "Usagi, you know you aren't supposed to use the pen for personal reasons," she scolded. Usagi smiled.

"Jealous Rei?," she whispered. The preistess only flipped her hair impatiently.

"Whoa! Cool Buns! I didn't know you could do that!" Goku stated enthusiastically. She beamed, then remembered she was supposed to be mad and turned her head. He gave a long sigh. So she was still angry with him. Ami seeing his resigned look, smiled at him encouragingly. Usagi was always getting steamed at something or other. She'd get over it.

"So c'mon already Ninjin-atama!!!!! What're you going to teach us?" Rei asked impatiently, glaring at Goku.

"Oh yea..," he'd almost forgotten why they were here. "The Enemy is getting stronger, and you girls aren't powerful enough to defeat them with just your current techniques."

Rei looked confused. "What are you saying, Go-san? How else could we do it?"

He sighed, deciding that the best possible way to explain would be to show them. Standing back, he spread his legs, reaching his right arm into the air, palm flat. The girls looked on curiously. He closed his eyes, concentrating on an attack he was only vaguely familiar with. The girls gasped as the very air around them seemed to thicken with electricity. In his hand, a small spark had formed, and Goku began to slowly rotate his arm in a counter clockwise position. His eyes remained shut as he whispered the attack's name.

"Distructo Disk.."

His eyes popped open, and he hurled the disk right at the girls, who screamed in fright. Doing a series of hand motions, Goku guided the disk into the air, over the trees, and back to himself. The girls looked shocked, Rei even more-so.

"That looks like Meatball Head's Tiara!," she cried. For once, Usagi didn't get mad at being called a name.

"But you charged it up so fast! And it's so much bigger than my Tiara!!!," Usagi finished, looking shocked as well.

Ami had taken out her mini computer and was typing furiously. "Guys! According to my calculations, that disk is over 1000 times stronger than Sailor Moon's Tiara!" Rei looked sick and Usagi seemed afraid.

"But that's impossible!!!" Rei said, astonished. But no one could answer.

"I'll never be able to do something like that!," Usagi wailed sadly. Goku felt despair creeping into him. He hadn't meant to discourage them...he'd only wanted to show them that it was possible to learn OTHER attacks besides the ones they'd already possessed. But instead, it seemed to be having an opposite affect. His face took on a determined look. He'd just have to use a different approach to teach them, he guessed. He didn't understand. While training his son back in the hyperbolic time chamber, the little boy had been awed at his display of power...it had encouraged him to keep training harder, so he could become stronger too. But with these girls, it seemed to be having the complete opposite effect. Maybe girls were just different that way.

Okaaay.

Perhaps he should start them off with some martial arts. If they learned new fighting techniques, they wouldn't need to rely on their ki-based power as much. And a stronger body made for better ki-power. He clinched his fists, disintigrateing the disk and standing back.

"I want you girls to attack me with everything you've got," he said calmly. The girls gasped.

"Goooooo-Chaaaaan!!!!!!!!" Usagi wailed. What was he thinking? Was he crazy? The three of them against him? Rei frowned. Either Goku was incredibly strong, or just plain stupid. But if he wanted a fight, then that's definitely what he would get! She stood back, holding up her transformation pen.

Goku shook his head. "No Rei. I want you to attack without transforming." He had to see just how strong they were in their civilian forms. At his words, Usagi cringed. She'd seen him in action and she wasn't getting anywhere NEAR him. The three of them COMBINED didn't have a chance at beating him, she was sure; even in a mock battle. Especially if they couldn't henshin. She shook her head and backed away. She'd let Rei and Ami handle this one. She glanced over at Rei, who was demanding to know why they couldn't use their senshi powers, and Ami who was fiddling with her Computer. Both of them were way better at being Sailor Senshi than she'd ever be. Maybe she should just do them all a favor and quit right now.

She glanced up then, and straight into Goku's eyes. She almost gasped. How long had he been watching her? Could he tell what she'd been thinking? She didn't know. His face wore a thoughtful expression, but his normally expressive eyes were unreadable. For a moment it seemed as if they were the only two people present. No Rei-chan always picking fights..no Ami-chan with her quiet ways and mini computer..and no Luna always pushing her to do things she didn't want to do. It was just the two of them; Usagi and Goku. And in that split second, she saw something. Something in Goku's eyes. Something that had happened to him in his past. Something-

But then he gave her a gentle smile and lowered his eyes. Whatever it was that had happened to him, he didn't want her to know about it. I wonder what could have happened.. But she was startled from her thoughts by a loud voice.

"Ninjin-Atama!!! ," Rei cried, "Are you listening to me?!" she stopped, suddenly noticing the looks between the two. And then Goku spoke.

"Usagi, attack me."

Ami gasped, throwing a hand up in shock to her face. She had scanned that energy disk he'd formed, and she didn't think the others realized how truly powerful it had been. Infact, that disk had been PURE energy. Unlike Rei and herself who manipulated the elements, he'd somehow succeeded in creating energy. She was sure that wasn't normal.

Rei scowled. "Go-san...if I can't beat you without henshining, what makes you think that she can?" Luna nodded in agreement. Usagi frowned.

Ami shook her head. "No Rei..the point of this exercise isn't to defeat him; it's to see how much we know."

Goku nodded. Truthfully none of them had a snowballs chance of beating him or even coming close. But if he was going to train them, he had to see how much each of them knew.

Usagi hesitated for just a moment, and for a second he thought she wouldn't do it. But suddenly she launched herself at him, doing a series of uncoordinated kicks and punches of which he easily avoided. Then, as quickly as it had began, her adrenaline rush faded, and she collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath.

Luna ran over. "Usagi-chan, are you alright?" The girl nodded weakly. She'd barely been able to keep up with him. Actually she hadn't been able to keep up with him at all. She glanced up at Goku, who smiled kindly down at her.

"Very good, Usagi," he praised. She beamed. But then he continued. "Now transform into Sailor Moon and attack me."

Rei looked suspicious. "Hey! How come we can't henshin and she gets to?," but Goku ignored her and Ami only surveyed the events silently. Goku was getting at something, she was sure. But what?

Usagi wearily stood up, redfaced and winded, but her eyes were bright and brilliant. And then she said the words that would make her Sailor Moon. "Moon Prism Power!" And this time..this time instead of looking away, Goku watched closely. There was something...something that puzzled him. Something about this transformation that was just wrong...it was hiding something crucial...something-

There!

He grinned. He'd saw it; felt it even. Right before she ended her transformation; right before she saluted the moon; almost at the precise moment her tiara appeared on her forehead, the crescent moon appeared. That same half moon that had appeared on her in the hospital that night. And right before it disappeared, he'd felt it. A flash of ki energy.

He frowned slightly. He didn't quite understand. How was it that Usagi didn't possess any sort of ki signal, but Sailor Moon did? That just wasn't normal or natural. Every living thing had ki! But atleast now he knew the percise moment when that ki appeared. Right when that half-moon symbol flashed on her forehead. He smiled.

Usagi, no, Sailor Moon was standing tensed in front of him. She no longer looked winded or fatigued, and he nodded his approval.

"Now I want you to attack me...just like before." And without hesitation, she rocketed towards him, considerably faster than she'd previously done as Usagi. The girls watched silently. Sailor Moon was doing all the moves she'd done earlier on him as Usagi, but now instead of being uncoordinated, she was graceful..although she still couldn't hit him. Suddenly she jumped high into the air, bringing her leg down sharply near his shoulder.

"Sailor Moon kick!"

Goku smiled, holding out his index finger and easily blocking the move. "Alright. That's enough. You did great Sailor Moon!" he grinned.

"Got it!"

Both Sailor Moon and Goku glanced over in surprise at Ami. They'd almost forgotten about the others. "Got what Ami-chan?," Sailor Moon asked, gasping for breath. Goku, as usual, was completely unaffected by the workout.

The blue haired girl held up the stop watch she'd been wearing around her neck. "I timed both of your activities with Goku just now. As Usagi, you barely lasted a minute before getting winded. But as Sailor Moon, you were able to hold off for 4 and a half!" Goku nodded.

Luna frowned. "But...that only proves that the girls are stronger in their senshi identities. We already knew that."

Goku shook his head. "But Why? Why can't you fight just as well in your regular forms? Why should you have to waste time transforming at all?" He kneeled before the small black cat. "Don't you get it Luna? The Sailor Senshi would be much more powerful if they were able to learn as Usagi, Rei, and Ami. THEN when they transformed they'd be able to accomplish even more."

Sailor Moon and Ami looked awed, but Rei was silent. Maybe...perhaps she'd been wrong about Usagi. Watching her fight with Goku just now, she'd been surprised at how long the girl had lasted. And she hadn't cried or complained once. She walked over to Sailor Moon, nose in the air. "Well Sailor Moon Brain," she said, "I guess you aren't as whimpy as you seem." Sailor Moon glared, but then laughed. Rei would never admit to a compliement if it killed her. Ami smiled, watching the events. For the first time in her life, she felt as if she actually belonged. She started over to her friends, but stopped as she noticed something to her left. It was a huge frog. The biggest frog she'd ever seen, infact. She paused, looking closely at it. She didn't know much about them, but she'd never seen a species like that around here. And this one had Antennae. Was that normal? She shook her head leaning closer to it. At first it didn't seem to notice. Upon closer inspection she could see that it was watching Goku, who at the moment seemed to be preoccupied with something Sailor Moon and Rei were saying.

But...why? Why was it so concerned about Goku? Frogs had no interest in humans...did they? Suddenly, as if sensing itself being watched, the frog hurriedly hopped away. Ami shrugged. Maybe it had been her imagination. But who knew? Who was she to say that frogs weren't intelligent beings? She'd already seen a talking cat....

"Ami-chan, come on!," Goku shouted suddenly. Ami smiled. Why was she worried about a frog when her first real friends were only yards away? She gave a laugh and rushed over, the wind catching her blue hair.

But the frog was intelligent. And it had been watching Goku.

*****

She watched the events in growing shock. So....so these girls...these three young girls were the legendary Sailor Senshi!? And that guy actually knew them?!

Makoto sat back in shock. It had been wrong to follow him, she knew...but he'd been in such a hurry that he hadn't been able to tell. And she really wanted to learn his name. She'd been even more surprised when he'd taken off into the air. He had flown. FLOWN! And it had been all she could do to keep up with him. Now she was definitely even MORE interested in the strange young man.

So these were the friends he'd been talking about, she thought silently to herself. She'd never expected on seeing anything like this.. Maybe I'll like it here afterall... Standing carefully so as not to draw attention, she made her way silently back into town.
